What is a Resume?
A resume is a one-page summary of your educational, professional, and personal experiences that you share with employers when applying for a job.
Whether you already have one or are just getting started, MTW has a proven method to help young adults understand resume-building.
Resume Brainstorming
Instructions:
Step 1: Get a blank sheet of paper (or two) and a pen, or open a blank page in Word or Google Docs
Step 2: Answer the following brainstorming questions as fully and completely as you can to prepare to write your resume
Question 1: Brainstorm a list of all the places you have worked (including More Than Words)
Question 2: Brainstorm a list of all the schools or educational institutions you have attended (or attend now)
Question 3: Brainstorm a list of any certifications, trainings, or special skills you have obtained
Question 4: Look at your lists from Questions 1-3; add dates (start-finish) and locations (city, state) to as many as you can

Resume Templates - MTW and More
Would you rather use a template to make your resume? Click on one of the templates below and start filling it in. Don't forget to check in with Career Services for any final touches!
Instructions
Step 1: Click on the icon (square + arrow) at the top right corner of your preferred template
Step 2: Click "File"
Step 3: Click "Make a Copy"
Step 4: Rename your document so that it's short and professional
Step 5: Start adding your information!
How to Share your Resume with your CSM and YDM
Now that you've made your resume, it's important to share it with your Career Services Manager and your Youth Development Manager so that they know it's complete and we have a copy in case you need one in the future, like when you graduate from MTW!
Instructions:
Step 1: Open your resume in Google Docs
Step 2: Click "File"
Step 3: Click "Share"
Step 4: Click "Share with Others"
Step 5: Type in your CSM's and YDM's email addresses -- double check they're correct!
Step 6: Make sure your CSM and YDM have "editing" access
Step 7: Click "Send"
