Getting Started...
QUALIFICATIONS:
Have a high school diploma or Hi-SET.
Be at least 18 years old
Have your driver's license
Pass a drug test
CORI friendly industry
BEGIN YOUR STUDIES:
If you like working with your hands and staying active, there is a large demand for people in the trades and a wide-range of fields to study. This could be a good pathway for you if you do not feel that a four year college degree is what you are looking for.
SCHOOL PROGRAMS:
Boston is host to a wide range of trade schools in and around the city. From entry level programs for students with no experience, to one year programs that will help get you certified as a esthetician or in carpentry, to four year apprenticeships that will get you into a local union, there are a range of options for you to EXPLORE.
Your Job Path
Apprenticeship Program
Completion of a program to become an apprenticeship and get a job that lasts between 6 to 12 months.
Average starting salary = $45,000 with benefits

Completion of a one year certification program at an accredited institution
Average starting salary = $41,000 with benefits. Average mean salary = $53,000 with benefits

Completion of an apprenticeship program and then getting accepted into a local union
Average starting salary = $45,000 with benefits. Upon completion of apprenticeship after four years you become a journeyman at $80,000 a year with benefits.

Completion of an apprenticeship program or an associate’s degree at an accredited institution
